it’s difficult for me as someone who can actually sense presences and residual emotions to actually watch most paranormal investigative shows, because they almost all have at least one “medium” or “empath” who claims they can summon ghosts (whatever the hell that means), and they all act so overly confident about what they think is going on at a particular location. buzzfeed unsolved is a completely different experience, though, because they’re legitimately so incompetent (and in that way they’re actually more competent than the people who actually claim to know what they’re doing imo). they argue the whole time, and they say the stupidest shit, and shane isn’t afraid to call ryan out when he’s getting a little carried away with his “i think i just heard something” business. i think every “ghost hunting” team should be required to have one person who doesn’t believe in the paranormal whose job is to provoke the spirits, and to tell the other members of the team that what they heard was just the wind, firstly because it makes the experience seem a little less biased and therefore less fanatical and annoying (it stops every little noise or technological glitch from being a “ghost”), and secondly because it’s honestly hilarious.
